Baseball can build better players, but it can also build confidence, responsibility, discipline and preparation for whatever comes next.
Every parent wants their son to become a better baseball player.
But most parents want something even more important. They want their son to become more confident, responsible, disciplined, and prepared for whatever comes next.
That is what we believe baseball can teach.
At Sharon Springs Academy, we do not measure our success by how many trophies we win. We measure it by how much our players grow.
We focus on teaching the game the right way. We work on fundamentals, baseball knowledge, athletic development, confidence, and the ability to handle both success and failure. We challenge players without tearing them down. We coach hard, but we never believe a young athlete needs to be embarrassed or intimidated to improve.
Over the years, our coaches and program have been connected to six first-round Major League Baseball selections, more than 30 professional baseball players, an NFL first-round pick, three NFL players, college athletes, national championships, and players who have competed at the highest levels of amateur baseball.
We have also had the privilege of learning from people who knew the game at the highest level, including Atlanta Braves executives and managers, Major League players, NFL players, and Baseball Hall of Famer Bruce Sutter; all chose us to coach their sons. They could have chosen anyone, anywhere, but chose us.
But those accomplishments are not what we want you to remember most.
We communicate our goals, explain why we are doing what we are doing, and keep families involved in the process.
Our program is built around experienced coaches who care about teaching young athletes and giving back to the community. We keep the game competitive, but we also want players to enjoy playing it.
We teach good sportsmanship, citizenship, and academic responsibility using baseball as the vehicle through which we communicate.
Because this is still their childhood.
Our partnership with Sharon Springs Baseball and Forsyth County gives our players access to outstanding facilities and resources while allowing us to keep our focus where it belongs: on the player.
